Your organization has set up single sign-on (SSO) between Claude and Google Workspace. In practical terms, that means one thing: you have no new password to create. You sign into Claude with the same Google account you use for your work email.
There is one pitfall, and it is easy to avoid: do not create an account. Your account already exists and is waiting for you. If you create one yourself, you end up in a personal workspace separate from your team's, and you have to start over.
First Sign-In, in the Browser
Start with the browser before installing anything. That is where your access gets activated.
- Open claude.ai.
- Enter your work email address (your corporate Google account, not a personal Gmail address).
- Choose Continue with SSO.
- You are redirected to the Google sign-in page. Select your corporate account and sign in as usual.
- You are brought back into Claude, already linked to your organization.
That is it. Your seat is assigned automatically on that first sign-in.
Three Signs You Are on the Wrong Path
- You are prompted to "create an account" or "sign up". Go back and use "Continue with SSO".
- You are asked to choose a plan or enter a credit card. Stop there. Joining your organization never costs you anything; a payment screen means you are in the process of creating a new organization.
- You are using a personal email address. Access is tied to your work address. A personal address leads to a separate personal account.
Installing Claude on Your Computer
Once you are signed in through the browser, install the desktop app. It gives you full access to Claude in a dedicated window, and it is what allows you to work with your files.
- Go to the official download page: claude.com/download.
- Choose your system: macOS or Windows.
- Open the downloaded file and follow the installation steps.
- On Mac: drag Claude into the Applications folder, then open it.
- On Windows: run the installer and let it finish.
- On first launch, the app will ask you to sign in. Follow the same steps: work email address, then Continue with SSO, then your corporate Google account.
Always download the app from claude.com. An installer found anywhere else is not a version to trust.
On Your Phone
The mobile app keeps your conversations within reach, synced with your computer.
- iPhone and iPad: Claude on the App Store
- Android: Claude on Google Play
Same principle when you open it: work email address, Continue with SSO, corporate Google account.
If Something Is Blocking You
The most common message is "You have not been added to your organization yet", or a screen stating that access is managed by your organization. Your Google sign-in worked; it is the access on the Claude side that has not been set up for you yet.
There is nothing for you to fix on your end. Take a screenshot, note the email address you used, and send everything to your administrator or to us. It gets resolved on our end, with no need for you to start over.
Before you start using it in earnest, one last useful step: in Claude, open Settings and confirm that the organization name displayed matches your company. If it does, you are in the right place.
